Natural and Inspired Weight Loss For Everyone

By: Dr. April Schulte, Mother Nature's Doctor

We have all experienced it—that moment of inspiration when we dig deep, commit to our health, and set out to make positive changes. Many find this spark at the start of a new year, but it’s important to remember: when it comes to true health and wellness, there is no pill or quick fix that will sustainably help you reach your goals.

Achieving and maintaining health is a journey full of ups, downs, twists, and turns, requiring a willingness to embrace physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual challenges. And through it all, self-love and self-compassion must lead the way.

One common goal along this journey is weight loss. Unfortunately, the food and pharmaceutical industries have muddied the waters with misinformation. For example, drugs like Wegovy and Ozempic flood the media with promises of balanced blood sugar and effortless weight loss. Portrayed as delivering boundless joy and energy, these drugs often lead instead to further illness.

While it may be tempting to believe in a quick fix, the path to achieving a healthy weight mirrors the path to optimizing overall health. The plan is simple:

  • Eat real, whole foods from nature—unprocessed and nourishing. Contrary to popular belief, these foods are delicious, accessible, and affordable.
  • Move your body regularly. Exercise boosts cardiovascular and pulmonary endurance, uplifts mood, increases energy, and improves sleep.
  • Challenge your mind with new hobbies, reading, or brain games.
  • Explore your spiritual beliefs and cultivate community with like-minded people and Mother Nature.
  • Calm your nervous system, as true healing occurs in states of relaxation.
  • Prioritize restorative sleep by disconnecting from electronics, avoiding late meals, and relaxing your mind with prayer, meditation, or reading.
  • Live purposefully, sharing your unique gifts and passions with your community.
  • Align your life with your core values.

The plan is simple—but not necessarily easy. However, it is far easier and healthier than relying on pharmaceutical drugs. Medications often fail to address the root cause and come with a host of side effects. For instance, the Ozempic website lists thyroid cancer, gastroparesis (stomach paralysis), pancreatitis, blurred vision, gallstones, and more as potential adverse effects. Losing weight because you are sick is not true wellness.

By the time someone considers a weight loss drug, they may already face high cholesterol, arterial plaque, hypertension, depression, anxiety, insomnia, or even autoimmune diseases. Conventional healthcare often prescribes an array of medications—statins, blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, sleeping aids, and immune suppressants—compounding health issues rather than solving them.

When you reclaim your health through self-empowerment, your metabolism naturally balances, leading to steadier blood sugar, increased energy, and improved hormonal health. Achieving a healthy weight becomes a natural byproduct of living well.

You are a powerful human being, fully capable of making self-loving choices to reach your health goals.
Believe in yourself. You are worth living life to its fullest—and you can do it.
